Another sunny day

It's not nice to crow, however it was hard yesterday when speaking to friends in London moaning about the rain and generally grim weather when I was sat here...

Bude bank holiday weekend

It was a low low tide this Sunday in Bude, and this coupled with the amazing sunshine saw the beach swarmed with folk.  Some people clustered around the high tide mark, marking their territory with windbreaks...

While the rest of the wide golden sandy beach was much emptier...

Pizza time?

The appeal of cooking in a traditional pizza oven is wide reaching, but can also be confusing for first timers, so we've put together out step by step guide... but don't worry we don't leave guests to go it alone!

collect a selection of kindling, softwood and hardwood

build a small fire and gradually add more wood

watch the temperature rise

look after the fire for two to three hours and spread the burning embers on the floor of the oven, and then just before cooking brush the embers to the back of the oven

Get a beer ready

create your pizza on baking parchment, this makes it easy to place into the oven (we have a great pizza dough recipe)

use the pizza paddle to slip onto the oven floor

close the oven door and keep a close eye on the pizzas

the finished pizza!  Depending on the heat of the oven it can take from just a fee minutes to ten minutes to cook.  You remove the pizza from the oven with the pizza paddle and slip it straight onto a board or plate.

Here's some pics of our new treehouse which is just fabulous. It incorporates a slide, tower, little room with table and chairs (for impromptu treehouse picnics) and a look out tower to keep an eye on mum and dad.
